The Membertou Trade and Convention Centre hosts the latest monthly visit from a touring trio of Yuk Yuk’s comedians on Saturday, May 12.
This month’s show features Graham Chittenden, Ian Black and Mark Sawatzky.
Graham Chittenden was both a finalist in Great Canadian Laugh Off (Comedy Network) and runner up of the Homegrown Competition at Just For Laughs in 2009. Chittenden returned to Just For Laughs in 2010, recorded an episode of The Debaters on CBC Radio, and also filmed his Comedy Now! special for CTV and the Comedy Network.
Mark Sawatzky’s website makes no bones about his being a heroin addict. The Winnipeg born comedian says his “comedy comes from pure cynicism and stark realism”.
Now based in Halifax, Sawatzky writes a new seven minute set every week, performing them at the Paragon Theatre and at Jokers Comedy Club in both Halifax and Moncton. He has performed numerous shows for various charitable organizations primarily through Funny Fundraisers. Mark is also the winner of the HubCap Comedy Festival’s Open-Mic stand-up contest in 2011.
Ian Black is another Halifax-based comedian after arriving on the East Coast from British Columbia. As both a stand up act and a host for various events, Black has earned a solid reputation as a high energy entertainer on the comedy circuit both regionally and in other parts of Canada.
This event is for comedy fans 19 years and older with doors opening at 7pm and show time at 9pm with cabaret seating. Advance tickets are $15 with day of show tickets $18.
Tickets on sale at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre box office, 50 Maillard Street or by calling 539-2300. Box office hours are from 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday.
