For a special Father’s Day, Strathspey Place will be paying homage to Johnny Cash. The “Legend in Black” tribute performance features not only the famous songs, but tells the life story of the beloved country-rock singer-songwriter.
Bill Cayley will star as the black-clad legend, accompanied with a June Carter-Cash character and a recreation of Cash’s backup band, the Tennessee Trio. Each member was selected based on their respect for the music and dedication to reproducing the quiet country feel that underscored Cash’s work.
Along with Cayley’s Johnny Cash act, he has over 40 years performing experience around North America with various bands and duo acts. After the release of the Cash biopic “Walk the Line”, Cayley decided to build a tribute act to keep Cash’s music alive. Cayley shares not only Cash’s deep, rich vocal range, but also his birthday. Though ten years his junior, being born on the same day somehow makes Cayley’s tribute all the more fitting.
Strathspey Place is located in Mabou, along the Ceilidh Trail. Tickets for the Legend in Black are $20 for Adults, with a 20% discount available to Strathspey Place members. Children under 12 can get free admission by dressing in black.
