Are you interested in helping to shape the future of the province’s investment in arts and culture? The Province of Nova Scotia’s Culture Division is currently seeking volunteers to join the Creative Nova Scotia Leadership Council (CNSLC).
This new council has evolved from the Nova Scotia Arts and Culture Partnership Council and will provide leadership to the Nova Scotia government for the development of policy which elevates the arts and artists, and promotes artistic activities. The volunteer board, in partnership with government, advises and makes recommendations to the Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage on the planning, design and delivery of the department’s arts and culture programs. A focus of their work will be the government’s recently announced five point plan for the sector including: status of the artist legislation; the creative economy; and a long term strategy for the sector.
The Council’s selection committee (three council members and two other sector members) will recommend volunteers for the 15-member council. The committee is seeking a range of experience among council members and will work to strike a balance between the arts and the cultural industries, individual artists, not-for-profit arts organizations and any individual with an interest in helping shape a vibrant arts and culture community. The committee will take into consideration cultural and regional diversity and welcomes applicants from all arts disciplines.
The Council meets monthly and reimburses its volunteer members for out-of-pocket travel expenses.
Deadline for applications: April 29, 2011
