Thrown Aside
Age Old Question
Independent (2002)
The newest offering from Northside pop-punk four-some Thrown Aside (formerly known as Face Downe), is a two song EP called “Age Old Question”. The cd, which features two newer songs of the repertoire in June 5th and The Cost, was recorded at Lakewind Studios, and oh was it recorded!
The cd is only two songs, but it is a landmark recording for the all ages scene. The quality is simply amazing and captures every aspect of the young band’s sound. The band’s live show has always been great, featuring driving guitar and some of the best three part vocal harmonies I have ever heard. With a great surprise, the cd captures these harmonies flawlessly. As well, both Alan (Aucoin) and Zach’s (Pero) guitars are captured and mixed perfectly to give the feel of their live shows but with a much higher quality sound.
I have been a fan of the band for a few years now and have seen them progress from their past EPs to this one, and it’s a remarkable progression. The catchy songs, driving guitar riffs, and second to none vocal harmonies, are all present on this short but sweet recording, enough to make every listener impatient to hear what is yet to come.
