Innovacorp is starting a new fall season of TecSocials, the monthly gathering for anyone with an interest in entrepreneurship and technology. September’s feature presenter will be Jevon MacDonald, Innovacorp’s entrepreneur-in-residence. The title of MacDonald’s talk is “How start-ups will save Canada”.
Born and raised in PEI, MacDonald is a veteran of developing tech-oriented businesses, and has developed some keen insights over a decade of being involved in start-ups. He began his career with the co-founding of Silver Orange which focuses on creating user-oriented web systems. Among Silver Orange’s clients and partners are musicians Sloan and Feist, and tech companies Mozilla and Digg. More recently, he was senior partner at Austin, Texas-based Dachais Group, through their acquisition of one of his start-ups firestoker.com. Through forming strategic alliances with companies such as IBM and Jive Software, he helped build Dachais group from four employees to over one hundred.
MacDonald is a regular writer for startupnorth.ca, a prominent voice in Canada’s start-up community, which hosts and an active angel investor, providing capital for start-ups. He has a penchant for “social business design” MacDonald occasionally shares his insights about at his personal blog socialwrite.com. In MacDonald’s role at Innovacorp, provides business development support and advice to high potential clients and helps evaluate emerging business ventures as a part of the company’s mentoring strategy for emerging Nova Scotia businesses.
