Internationally renowned comedian Gerry Dee returns to The Savoy this Saturday, April 3 for the fourth straight year, bringing with him some new material and two of his funniest friends. Joining Dee are Stephen Patterson (This Hour Has 22 Minutes, The Jon Dore Show) and Nova Scotia’s own Mark Little (Picnicface, Just For Laughs).
Dee began a full time comedy career in 2003 after spending 10 years as a high school Phys-Ed teacher. In 1999, he won Toronto’s Funniest New Comic competition. In 2002, he was the first Canadian in 27 years to win the prestigious San Francisco International Comedy Competition. comics who got their start in this competition include Robin Williams, Dana Carvey and Ellen Degeneres.
In 2003, Dee made his US network debut when he performed on CBS’ Star Search with Arsenio Hall and National Lampoon featured him in a DVD which was released in 2004. Mark Little has performed at Yuk Yuk’s, the Halifax Comedy Festival, and CBC Radio’s So You Think You’re Funny series. Mark is a member of the Halifax-based sketch comedy group Picnicface. The troupe has has been featured on Will Ferrell’s funnyordie.com and is currently seeking support for a proposed feature film entitled Roller Town.
Little’s voice is featured in the YouTube video for a fictional beverage called “Powerthirst”, which has been viewed over 18 million times. In 2008, he was named Best Comedian by the readers of Halifax weekly The Coast and in 2009, he won the first prize in Yuk Yuk’s Great Canadian Laugh Off, beating out 64 other comedians from across Canada for the $25,000 prize.
Steve Patterson began his full-time comedy career in 1996, joining the touring roster of Canada’s premiere comedy booking agency. He graduated from opening act to headliner in a matter of a few months.
Between 1999-2004, Patterson paid his club circuit dues touring Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom with additional stops in the United States and the United Arab Emirates. He is also the only non-Maritime comic to be invited to perform at the Halifax Comedyfest five consecutive years (2002-2006) and has taped many national television specials including Comedy Now! for CTV/Comedy Network, Halifax Comedy Festival and the Just For Laughs gala.
Named host of the hit CBC radio show The Debaters in 2007, Patterson can be heard weekly across Canada and around the world, steering Canada’s top comedic minds through hilarious debates on top of mind topics.
