Three top emerging pop acts share the stage at the Membertou Trade And Convention Centre on Saturday, May 14.
Juno nominated Edmonton based Stereos will be joined by Toronto’s Neverest and Vancouver singer songwriter Eric Solomon for an evening that between the three acts covers hip hop, 80’s soul, funk, and modern electro and alternative pop, hard rock, and R&B. A full evening for sure.
After being signed to Universal Music Canada, Stereos released their self-titled debut album in October 2009. The first single, “Summer Girl” debuted at #2 on the Canadian Hot 100, selling over 120,000 units as a digital single. Stereos received two JUNO Award nominations in March 2010 for Best New Artist and Best Pop Album.
Their second release, “Uncontrollable”, spawned two singles, the title track and “Body Moves”.
For a band that only solidified their lineup a few months ago, Neverest has already seen the October 2010 release of their first single, “About Us”, which was co-produced in Toronto by internationally acclaimed producer/songwriter, Anthony M. Jones (Ashanti, Mary J. Blige, R. Kelly).
They have also confirmed they will joining legendary boy bands Backstreet Boys and New Kids On The Block on their upcoming tour of Canada. Those dates begin on June 7 in Montreal.
Eric Solomon’s independent seven song EP release, “Antarctica”, covers a lot of ground musically; much like Solomon’s life.
Born in Canada, his family lived for thirteen years in the African Congo before war sent Solomon out of the country and away from seeing his whole family reunited for a decade. Once back in Canada, Solomon voyaged out again, gigging his way around Asia for five years. “Playing everywhere,” he says on his website, “six nights a week, five sets a night in Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, The Philippines – I really got my road legs through that.”
His travels and his love of icons like Stevie Wonder and Prince helped form “Antarctica”.
