Whether it’s for the competition or personal achievement, the Cape Breton Fiddlers Run welcomes runners and walkers of all fitness levels to participate in the annual run on Sunday, September 19.
Established by the late Lydia Dickson in 2004, runners and walkers from across Canada and beyond have come to take part in the 5km, 10km, half marathon, team-relay and Boston qualifying marathon.
Even with its high profile status among skilled runners, the Fiddlers Run is more than just a race. Its core mission is to promote physical fitness and healthy living amongst all local residents. Besides partaking in the September 19 run, people of all ages can participate in Learn to Run clinics that take place year-round.
The run is conducted in King’s Road, with the start and finish line located at the Victoria Park Armouries in Sydney’s North End. The site opens for participants at 7am, and the full marathon runners start at 8am. The half-marathon, half-marathon team relay, and 10k runs begin at 8:30am, followed by the 5k run at 8:35am.
Fees for the 5k and 10k events are $30 per person, and the marathon and half marathon events cost $60. The fee for the half marathon relay is $120 per team.
Registration for the run can be completed through the Cape Breton Fiddlers run website, or by mailing the registration form to 58 Cottagedale Crescent Sydney, Nova Scotia B1P 6T8. A late registration session will take place at the Victoria Park Armouries from 2pm to 5pm. For more information visit www.capebretonfiddlersrun.com.
