It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas… and the Second Wind Community Band is making it sound that way too, with a concert this weekend at the Westmount United Church. The band will be presenting their annual “Festival of Carols”, sponsored by the Westmount United Church and in support of the Every Woman’s Center Adopt a Family program, on Sunday, December 13th at 7:30 pm.
This year the band will present a variety of arrangements of Christmas favourites along with one of their members singing along with the band. The audience can participate in some sing-a-longs, with the Westmount United Church Choir and accompanied by the Band. The band is so excited to have as their special guest this year, the Montessori Band kids, and their special guest MC, CBC’s own Wendy Bergfeldt from Mainstreet Cape Breton. There will be a special story told and you can be assured that you’ll be filled with the Christmas spirit by the end of the evening. The folks from the Westmount United Church will make sure that you go home feeling special because after the show, they will provide some hot apple cider and shortbreads to top off the evening. Admission is by free will offering in support of the Every Woman’s Center, with all proceeds going to this fabulous program.
The Second Wind Band will also be spreading sounds of the season on Wednesday, December 23rd when CBC Mainstreet hosts a Skating Party at Center 200. The party, taking place from 4-6pm, is to celebrate their Light Up A Life Campaign for Feed Nova Scotia and the Foodbanks, which officially ends that day.
