The Second Wind Community Band is hosting A Festival of Carols, their annual Christmas celebration organized in collaboration with the Westmount United Church. Wendy Bergfeldt of CBC’s Mainstreet Cape Breton will be the emcee for the evening. The concert will be held at the Boardmore Playhouse at Cape Breton University on Sunday, December 12. Showtime is 7:30pm.
Admission is by free will donation to the Every Woman’s Center in support of their “Adopt a Family” program. Each year, the program seeks sponsorship from organizations and individuals to help with Christmas gift-giving for families struggling to make ends meet. Over 600 families are enrolled in Adopt a Family this year.
The Sydney Academy Band and Choir, students of the MacArthur School of Dance and the Gospel group Godsent will be will be performing as guests of Second Wind. A Christmas Story will be read by Charlotte Dornadic as a special feature. There will be a reception with hot cider and shortbreads served after the concert.
