Hello, my name is Geoff Keough. I live in Sydney and I’m 17 years old. I’ve been skating for six years and snowboarding for two. I’m going to be helping out with the Scenery section for the next couple of months while Jan is gone away.
SEX, LIES AND VIDEOTAPE: Brain Transplant Boy thinks Geoff, Lee and Dakai are “real hip together”. What a dork… Some Rollerblade Kid jumped that huge gap on the Esplanade across from the Civic Centre. I saw it and it was huge. It hurts me to say it but he deserves some respect. Andrew Yorke demolished his car but escaped with only minor injuries… Eyewitnesses heard Beaker say, “Ya know what Mike, deep down inside I really just want to be hardcore.”… Jan and Chris moved to Halifax. I hope they have fun and do alright… Doug, Al and Bob spent 7 hours in jail. They may end up there for 14 years???… Some pricks destroyed the bank ramp at steel curbs. Who, why? Pass the word through Alternative Sports… Kim is not cool, she’s annoying… When on the Northside, beware of drunk, Nazi skinheads. Enough said… My girlfriend dumped me… What happened in North Sydney that night after the party in Florence?… Is Andrew going to start rollerblading again to show up that little kid?… Trevor and Rhoda tied the knot… Ron may very well be the most invincible man on earth.
SPOT CHECK – Is the steel curbs getting old? Getting busted at the Casino? Try skating behind the Civic Centre where the Police Station used to be. There’s some manual stuff, a three strain, and some lips. It’s not great, but it’s good for a change.
STEEL CURBS COMP – Prior to the contest, Al Yorke was busting some big ollies off the band. Most were going off and some sick tricks were landed, like Sean H’s frontside fakie flipkick on the bank. Smooth as butter. The contest seemed to be pretyy hype. Lots of nice runs were laid down by Dean, Al Yorke, Craig Davis, and Justin P. to name a few. Dean hardly ever missed, Craig went big and Al went HUGE. When the smoke cleared, Al Yorke stood on top despite tough competition from second place Dean. Mark Sparrow placed first in the 14 and under category. The rest of the placings are a mystery to me. You’d have to ask Muller. That night at the curbs a good time was had by all. Soime skated, most partied. Andrew Yorke surprised everyone and donated his bank ramp to the steel curbs. That lasted a week until some dickheads destroyed it. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
POSER OF THE MONTH – the most infamous award of all has been given out to none other than Locky MacDonald. ROCK ON!!
The summer’s over and school’s back n session. However, don’t get down, just make your after school skating precious. Oh yeah, all you rookies, you should be nervous. The season is hardly over though, with the Provincial Championships coming up September 23. Snowboarding is also approaching so you might want to check out the buyer’s guide and some of this year’s stuff. It was quite a busy month. I hope I didn’t forget much.
