This Sunday, April 22, the local community will partake in an amazing night of fun, music, and friends – all to support Savoy Theatre’s 85th year of theatre and arts in Cape Breton.
The first annual Light up the Stage Fundraising Gala will be hosted by Maynard Morrison and feature performances by multiple-award winning songstress Rita MacNeil, as well as The Men of the Deeps, Peter Gillis, The Three Pianos, Wendy MacIsaac and Mary Jane Lamond, and Glace Bay Glee. They will be joined onstage throughout the evening by local painter Kenny Boone.
“It’s been over five years since Rita MacNeil and The Men of the Deeps shared the Savoy stage so expect to have goose bumps,” Fundraising and Gala Coordinator, Sheri Andrea said.
In addition to a night of fabulous music and a chance to support the Savoy Theatre, patrons will start the evening off at 6:30pm with a wine and cheese reception while they bid on $10,000 worth of silent auction items, services and much, much more.
Auction items include vacation packages, golf packages, local art, framed photographs, jewelry, spa packages, dinners for 2, guided kayak tours, gift certificates for shopping, music lessons, sailing adventures, and many more amazing items. In addition, there will be a raffle on a Kingsdown queen size bed, tickets for various gift baskets, and a 50/50 draw.
All proceeds will be used in support of the Savoy Theatre and community programming.
Tickets for Light up the Stage are $54.95 and include the wine and cheese reception and silent auction. Doors open at 6:30pm. Showtime is at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Box Office at (902) 842-1577 or online.
