Excitement surrounds this year’s production of the Cape Breton Summertime Revue. At a press conference held recently, Rave Entertainment and Brookes Diamond Productions introduced the cast of the show for 1997. Maynard Morrison and Bette MacDonald are directing, with Maynard, who appeared in character during the morning press conference held at the Yacht Club, confirmed to be returning to the stage. The cast consists of Allie Bennett, Richard Burke, Howie MacDonald, Lisa MacIsaac, Julie Martell, Dave McKeough, Maura Lea Morykot and Tom Roach, with music direction by Gordie Sampson.
And everyone involved just got a little more excited as it has become possible for Gordie Sampson to tour with the show. Just back from a run with the Rankin Family, and in the midst of recording an album, it’s an experience he doesn’t want to miss. “He had some dates open up for him,” explains Max MacDonald of Rave Entertainment, “and was so excited by what was happening in rehearsals that he’s decided to join the show on the road.”
The Cape Breton Summertime Revue will be at the Savoy June 5, 6, 7.
