With a run of shows at the Savoy Theatre under its belt, the 2016 Cape Breton Summertime Revue, Next Generation is proving to be a hit.
Audiences are jumping to their feet to show their appreciation for a night filled with hysterical scenes and top-notch musical numbers – both familiar and new. The high-energy, fast-paced performance plays to the strengths of all performers, resulting in a show that really does have something for everyone.
Staying true to the traditions of keeping Cape Breton culture at the forefront, show-goers are treated to two hours of political parodies, original, locally-written tunes, and an endless array of hilarious characters, bringing our unique island perspectives to life!
Savoy Theatre Manager, Pam Leader, says audiences were immediate and enthusiastic in their requests for more shows.
“People are leaving the theatre laughing and singing after the show, and telling us they’re excited to come back and want to take other people, so we’re happy to add the August 25 date to the end of the tour, and of course we’re more than pleased with the overall response,” says Leader.
A quick read through of the Savoy’s Facebook page reveals the excitement of show-goers with comments like, “I was skeptical at first, but was quickly won over by the Next Generation cast!” and “This is a fantastic show! You won’t be disappointed!”
“We can’t wait to take the show to other communities. We’re having the best time!” exclaims cast member and all around funny lady, Stephanie Hennessy.
The Cape Breton Summertime Revue, Next Generation hits the road this week with shows Monday at Strathspey Performing Arts Centre in Mabou, Tuesday and Wednesday at the DeCoste Centre in Pictou, and Friday and Saturday in Halifax, at the Rebecca Cohn Auditorium.
