This week might be the first evidence of the post Summer blues as we only have a couple of shows currently on the bill for the weekend.
The Upstairs Club will be shaking this Saturday night as Halifax’s North End Metal All Stars hit town alongside local punk stars Ricochet and scene newcomers Mortality Work.
The Metal All Stars, made up of members of Terratomb, Hellacaust, and Dead Brain Cells, combines the speed of Slayer and the melody of Helloween with the party atmosphere and rock sensibility of Motorhead and the abrasive vocal stylings of extreme metal into a unique sonic experience. They bring the rock, they bring the party, get ready to giv’er to your liver.
Over at Governors Pub, Friday night brings PEIs Coyote to town for a three band bill with Antigonish based alt rockers Pioneer Video and local songwriter Summers on Vacation. The five piece, who have an indie rock/pop element to their sound, are now playing with Cape Breton scene vet (McKenzie College grad/ex-Nick Nameless) Mike King on drums. Saturday night it’s Ladyslippers, Misty Thicket and guests.
Track of the Week: Zombie Tsunami by The North End Metal Allstars. There’s not much to say that the video doesn’t display perfectly. These guys are the perfect party band for the loud crowd, bring the chops and the drinks in perfect harmony. There are going to be a lot of hangovers Sunday morning.
