In March 2016, Strathspey Performing Arts Centre hosted its first Bi-Annual Fundraising Gala–The Old Fashioned Scottish Super Concert. It was an evening of traditional Scottish culture, featuring an amazing line-up of homegrown talent brought together through the music, the stories, the language, and the fun of it all. Kind of like the good old days. There was a real a kitchen party fell in the room and the atmosphere definitely enhanced the whole experience for the audience.
This weekend, the Old Fashioned Scottish Super Concert returns with another impressive list of players and dancers and singers and story-tellers sharing the stage and sharing their music and their steps, their songs and stories, and the laughs and tears in between.
Sunday night’s concert includes well-known performers Kenneth MacKenzie, Kevin Dugas, Goiridh Dòmhnallach, Colin Watson, John and Bill Pellerin, Cheryl MacQuarrie and Evelyn Cameron, Rodney MacDonald, Ian MacDougall, Patrick Gillis, MacNeil Girls, Tracey MacNeil, Melody and Derrick Cameron, Sgiobalta, Pius MacIsaac, Mac Morin, Shelly Campbell, and many more. Showtime is 7:30pm, but if you get there early, you’re in for a real treat with the Think Cape Breton First Kitchen Party.
Strathspey Performing Arts Centre would not exist without community support and The Kitchen Party is a way of recognizing and showcasing local businesses, artists, and crafters.
