Each November, more than 1,000 musicians and music industry professionals from around the world come together in Nova Scotia to showcase and celebrate the incredible musical talent that exists in the province.
Music Nova Scotia is happy to announce that Sydney, Cape Breton will host the 2020 edition of Nova Scotia Music Week (NSMW), taking place from November 5th to 8th. Truro will host the event in 2021.
“Nova Scotia is overflowing with exceptional talent of all kinds, and we’re proud to showcase all that the province has to offer to our international delegation,” says Music Nova Scotia Executive Director Kenney Fitzpatrick. “Nova Scotia Music Week continues to grow year after year and we’re excited to continue that trend in these strong and vibrant music communities. Both Sydney and Truro are known for their incredible hospitality and support of local music, and it’s an honour to be welcomed back to both towns.”
Music Nova Scotia estimates the event attracts over 5,000 local and visiting music fans annually, resulting in a $2 million economic spin-off for the province, with an approximate $1 million injected into the host community.
Both Destination Cape Breton and the Cape Breton Music Industry Co-operative will be primary partners in the 2020 edition of the event.
“CBMIC has always been proud to partner with and attend Nova Scotia Music Week,” says Nigel Kearns, CBMIC Board Chair. “The opportunity to welcome folks from across Nova Scotia and around the world to our home is beyond exciting to us all. We look forward to welcoming you all to Cape Breton Island and Sydney for NSMW 2020.”
Over the next few months, venues, partners, ticketing details, and more information about the NSMW conference and festival will be announced. Follow along on social media or sign up for the NSMW newsletter at nsmw.ca.
