The Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for their 29th Annual Excellence in Business Awards. The awards gala will take place on October 18, 2018 at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre, with a reception at 6pm and the dinner and gala beginning at 7pm. Tickets will go on sale in early September.
There are 10 award categories this year: Business of the Year, Rose Schwartz Female Business Person of the Year, Irving Schwartz Male Business Person of the Year, Jack Yazer Young Entrepreneur of the Year, New Business of the Year, Beyond Borders Export Achievement Award, Innovation and Advancement Award, Social Enterprise Award, Community Impact Award, and Workplace Excellence Award.
Additionally, there is an opportunity to submit the name of an individual or business for the following People’s Choice categories: Best Place to dine in the CBRM, Best Place to shop in the CBRM, CBRM Ambassador of the Year, Best Effort to Improve the CBRM, and Best Community project in the CBRM.
Nominations will be accepted through the online form until August 31, 2018 and nominators can submit a nomination in more than one category.
“The Excellence in Business Awards is an incredibly important night of celebration, where we recognize our most dedicated local businesses and business people here in the CBRM,” says Kathleen Yurchesyn, CEO at the Sydney and Area Chamber of Commerce. “This call for nominations is an opportunity for colleagues and customers alike to take the time to nominate a business or individual who is deserving in one of the many award categories.”
Yurchesyn says they are shaking things up a bit this year. “We have a couple new categories, we will have a new host for the evening and we hope to pack the room with our vibrant business community for a night of networking and celebration!”
There are also sponsorship opportunities available for the awards night. The Chamber encourages businesses to reach out to them directly if they are interested in promoting their business at this event.
