With five Music Nova Scotia Award nominations, and the second single from his new album Draws Blood holding steady at number five on the CBC Radio 2 Top 20, Carleton Stone has released his first cinematic music video. Directed by award-winning videographer Scott Simpson of Halifax-based Playmaker Films, the video for “Blood is Thicker Than Water” was shot in a number of locations in Inverness County in early October, with support from FACTOR and Music Nova Scotia.
Stone will be performing with Blue Rodeo this weekend during the Molson Canadian Nova Scotia Music Week in Truro where he is nominated for five awards including Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist Recording of the Year and SOCAN Songwriter of the Year.
Tom Fun Orchestra’s latest music video is a cartoon short for the title track from their 2012 album Earthworm Heart. Created by award-winning UK studio Trunk Animation, the video has more than 40,000 views since Thursday on popular video sharing site vimeo.com.
This is the third Tom Fun Orchestra video created by Trunk’s Alasdair Brotherson and Jock Mooney. Their video for “Bottom of the River” was named Best Music Video at both the Bradford Animation Festival and the Black & White Audiovisual Festival in 2010, while the video for “Throw Me to the Rats” earned the same designation at the Nickel Independent Film Festival in 2009 and garnered the band an East Coast Music Award for Video of the Year in 2010. Recently the duo crafted an animated album for Coldplay, the lyric video for Lily Allen’s “Air Balloon,” and the critically acclaimed short Gelato Go Home!.
The Tom Fun Orchestra will be joining Slowcoaster and Coig for Typsy Eve 2014 at Centre 200 in Sydney, December 23.
