Local kayakers get national ink, host night of award winning paddling films April 12

As the ice clampers begin to drift away from shore, Rising Tide Expeditions are busy preparing for another season of leading sea kayaking expeditions along some of Cape Breton Island’s most spectacular coastlines. The Gabarus based adventurers were recently included in Explore Magazine‘s May 2011 cover story “20 Best New Trips Coast to Coast to Coast” and are loading up their boats for a trip to the 4th annual Atlantic Paddling Symposium, being held near Newfoundland’s Terra Nova National Park in May.

If you are looking to get into the seafaring spirit join Rising Tide as they co-host a showing of showing of the Waterwalker Paddling Film Festival winners on April 12 from 7:00-9:30pm at the Royal Cape Breton Yacht Club. The films to be shown were shot in Canada and around the world and were winners of the following categories: Best Sea Kayaking Film, Best Adventure Film, Best Action Film, Best Canoeing Film, Best Environmental Film, Best Documentary Film and Best Amateur Film.
