Talk abut standing room only…I was wondering why they called this dance to the piper if there was no room to dance! People were packed in like sardines to hear the likes of Barry Shears, Paul MacNeil, Jamie MacInnis, and Duncan & Finn Moore. Slainte Mhath’s Bruce MacPhee got to strut his stuff on the pipes with a drivin’ version of “Brucie & the Troopers” while things really reached an emotional apex when Alex Currie took to the stage and let his fingers do the walking. Fred Morrison capped off the show with what appeared to be magic. He made it look easy, but I don’t want to be the one to let the cat out of the bag. When it was over, I could not believe how diverse and eclectic an entire show dedicated to bagpipes could sound, but with the introduction of the boarder pipes, the A pipes, and the Scottish Small Pipes, it was definitely an afternoon to remember.
