CBU Press and Cape Breton Bound Presents the inaugural Governor’s Book Pub on Tuesday, January 19th. The Book Pub is a monthly literary event to be held the third Tuesday of every month at Governor’s Pub 233 Esplanade, Sydney from 7 to 9pm. Admission is “pay what you can.”
For the inaugural Book Pub guest emcee Wendy Martin of CBC Cape Breton will host authors Dan Doucet (Rory’s Rooster and Parables of Big Pond) and Susan Farrell (Basement Suite).
Farrell made a splash in the latter half of 2009 with the release of her first novel Basement Suite. She is a full time writer who has recently returned to her native Cape Breton after spending a number of years in Vancouver. Farrell has a master’s degree in Creative Writing and has written, produced and directed a number of original plays. Basement Suite has been called “refreshingly real”, “provocative and sexy” and “a shocking conclusion about modern relationships” by reviewers.
In addition, the evening’s program will feature an “Open Stage” segment where writers of all experience levels can share their work, published or unpublished, by reading.
February’s event will feature authors D.C. Troicuk and Susan Zettell.
