The legends are back at the Savoy Theatre. After a successful series launch and multiple sold out shows in 2017 the series continues with Legends II: Their Music, Their Stories. It’s a tribute show with a twist, that promises to take us on a unique journey through the music and the moments from the lives of a trio of legendary artists.
Tickets for this year’s performance have already sold briskly, without a full artist line-up having been made public before now. Savoy Theatre Manager, Pam Leader, says it’s been fun to hold on to the secret of what artists might be featured.
“We’ve been asking people who they’d like to see,” says Leader. “Some have already guessed our line-up without knowing it. Some gave us great ideas for the next one! But we’re excited to give in, and announce the full tribute line-up now.”
Just in time for Mother’s Day, the 2018 Legends II show will pay tribute to Roy Orbison, The Righteous Brothers and the Mamas and Papas.
“As soon as you say any one of those artists’ names, people start singing their favourite songs,” says Leader.
A Legends tribute features some of the most-loved songs and brief glimpses into past lives, woven together by an original, light-hearted script. The casted performers attempt to truly emulate the Legends characters, mimicking their look and sound. Leader says it’s a show for everyone.
“Ask anyone who was here for the last one. It’s going to be magical. The audience will really be transported back in time.”
As for the talent who will fulfill the Legends II roles, the producers of the show say those details will be revealed soon.
“We can’t tell all of our secrets at once,” jokes Leader.
A limited number of Mother’s Day turkey dinners are also available to be booked with this performance.
