Say hello to Tappy, the water drop mascot, and learn a local eco-lesson while having fun at this year’s CBRM Water Fun Fair. The fair will take place at the Mayflower Mall on Friday, October 28th and Saturday, October 29th from 12 to 6 PM with unique games created for kids to make a splash while learning about local and global environmental issues.
The second annual Water Fun Fair, hosted in partnership with ACAP Cape Breton, CBRM Water Utility and CBRM Wastewater Operations, will feature four stations with games and activities offering something for everyone. Conserving water will get competitive with the Brush Up, Show Down tooth brushing game. Water will become worth its weight as children complete the Pioneer Water Relay Race. Adults will be able to learn more about ACAP Cape Breton’s programs and how to reduce their environmental impact.
“Now in its second year, the CBRM Water Fun Fair will be bigger and better,” notes Susan King, Executive Director of ACAP Cape Breton. “Environmental education provides children with the tools to make sustainable daily and long-term decisions while having fun. These interactive activities will touch on everything from water conservation to wastewater and allow for learning through doing.”
The event is free and open to the public. Throughout the two days there will be appearances from the CBRM Water Utility water drop mascot, Tappy, and prize draws. Children who play one game from each station will be eligible to enter draws for prizes. On Saturday afternoon, the winners of the Healthy Water, Healthy Me water conservation poster contest will be announced at an awards ceremony.
