If you haven’t been to in.sight Gallery yet, it’s time to stop procrastinating and take a drive over to Sydney Mines. The current exhibit, Network is on display until April 26th, and shortly following is the exciting annual fundraiser Small Works.
This is the second year for the fledgling fundraiser, which was a great success in 2001. The proceeds from this event constitute a substantial portion of the gallery’s operating budget for the year. Artists are encouraged to donate between one and three works to the gallery, which will be included in a raffle on May 10, 2002. Tickets for Small Works are only $45.00, and each ticket holder will get to choose a work of art from the gallery walls on May 10th, with the auction starting at 7pm. This is a great opportunity to support the gallery while getting a great deal on an original work of art!
Five more exhibits are scheduled at the gallery following the Small Works fundraiser. Marked will be an exhibit exploring the stigma of mental illness, which will open mid-May, and Winged is the working title of an exhibit by guest artist Glynis Humphrey. Towards the end of the summer season Printmakers will be on display, and includes a selection of works from New Brunswick as well as local submissions. This exhibit will also feature a workshop on printing techniques.Landscape in Modern Time begins on September 2nd, and is a members-only exhibit, which explores contemporary expressions of landscapes. Rounding out the year is a solo show by David Tuck titled On my planet….
in.sight Gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 1-5pm. For more information regarding the upcoming Mother’s Day fundraiser call 736-0434.
