Over one hundred artists living in Cape Breton will be represented in organizers call the largest show in*sight Gallery has hosted to date.
The exhibit, which will run from Monday, April 24th, to Saturday, June 3rd, is in*sight Gallery’s Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS) Regional Art Show, and is titled ‘999/’000. The presentation includes a wide range of work from the featured artists and is an exploration of themes on the millenium. VANS is the provincial artist advocacy group which promotes visual arts in Nova Scotia.
An opening night reception will be held on Monday, April 24, beginning at 7:30 pm and goodies and refreshments will be served.
Among the shows in.sight Gallery will be presenting this year are two exhibits scheduled to run concurrently from Monday, June 5th, to Saturday, July 15th: “Figuring”, an exhibit in all mediums centered around the human figure; and “Home and Away”, an exhibit of art that can, and will, be mailed to the gallery from artists all over Canada. From Monday, July 17th,to Saturday, August 26th, the gallery will feature “Enlighten…ment”, a show dealing with the spiritual realm depicted through the visual arts. Both of theses shows are open for submission from all artists.
The Gallery welcomes inquiries from artists or individuals who are interested in becoming members. They are currently in the process of creating new committees to address funding and membership in the new millenium. In.sight Gallery also encourages young and developing artists to participate in their upcoming shows as the gallery tries to maintain a supportive environment where artists of all levels can interact, mentor and support each other.
