“Ideas: Powered by Passion” returns to the Cape Breton Center for Craft and Design on Wednesday, January 19 from 7 – 9pm for an evening of creativity and ideas; encouraging new thinking through speech and music.
This month’s featured speaker will be Catherine O’Brien who will present on the topic Sustainable Happiness: Individual, Community and Global Well-Being. O’Brien is an Assistant Professor at CBU where she offers the world’s first course on sustainable happiness; a concept whose aim is to “stimulate discussions regarding the relationship between our pursuit of happiness and sustainability.”
Opening the evening will be Colleen Tobin from Supportive Housing for Individuals with Mental Illness, a not-for-profit housing program focused on improving the lives of people with mental illness. The evening’s musical guest is singer songwriter Steve Fifield who will share some insight into the passion behind his unique brand of working class folk.
Ideas: Powered by Passion, an initiative of New Dawn Enterprises, aims to uncover the passions of our people through the sharing of their stories, while inspiring others to find and act upon theirs.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a friend, a smile, and a mug for complimentary fair-trade, organic coffee and tea.
