At some point in the not so distant past, the age of the goofy, white-bred American sitcom was put to rest at the hands of the brainier, awkward sans-laugh track cable comedies. Around the same time, Nick Beaton joined this short comic revolution with a deeply cynical and irreverent slant on stand up. A Sydney native who now calls “Turanna” home, Beaton will be making his sneering return to Cape Breton this Tuesday, December 22nd at the Capri Cabaret in what has become one of the most wildly anticipated Christmas traditions.
This show isn’t for the faint of heart. Be prepared for unflinching criticism, political incorrectness, immodesty and plenty of F bombs. And if you’ve sucked back a few too many flirtinis and you feel like letting Nick know how you feel, do be prepared for a merciless and belittling lambasting. Living in the big smog for years now has certainly given Nick plenty to write home about. Show begins at 8:30pm with some local talent doing the warm up show. Come early and expect to throw some elbows around for the good seats.
