Now that the snow’s finally here and the weather has turned decidedly winter, why not take advantage and go for a Winter frolic this weekend at Two Rivers Wildlife Park. In addition to the Park’s regular Winter offerings of Cross country ski trails (rental of skis available), pond skating, limited ice fishing, sleigh rides, the 1km wildlife trail and petting zoo, there will be a skating and coasting party (Friday and Saturday evening) with a bonfire, music, and lights from 6-9pm. You will need to bring your own skates and sled/tube, but there will be an air compressor on site for tubes. Plus the Park will be offering a free taxi by horse and sleigh to and from the Canteen (6–9pm). Hot chocolate, hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn and hot turkey soup will be available. Skating and coasting will continue on Saturday from 10am-4pm, as will the free horse and sleigh taxi. On Saturday night there will be four candlelit tours of the 1km Wildlife Park, plus the skating, coasting, music, bonfire, music and lights 6-9 pm. And on Sunday there will be skating and coasting 10am-4pm. Regular Park admission or annual Park passes will be accepted. In Cape Breton we get four seasons every year and if we’re lucky, there’s snow in the winter and it gets cold enough to skate on a pond. It’s time to get out and enjoy it cause Two Rivers Tunnel has already predicted an early. For more information visit www.tworiverspark.ca.
About WGO staff
Since 1995, WGO has had a hard-core crew of regular writers who would sometimes put stories together from various sources or cut and paste information from press releases. There is usually very little actual writing involved in these operations, but someone's gotta do the cutting and pasting and assembling. WGO staff is that someone.
