William Shakespeare’s Hamlet returns to the Boardmore Theatre from January 28-30 and February 5-6 at 7pm and February 7 at 2pm. Directed by Scott Sharplin, this adaptation of Shakespeare’s famous work tells the tale like you’ve never seen it before.
The story goes… something is rotten in Denmark. The murdered King rises from the grave to give his son an impossible task–find the path to revenge without losing his mind, heart or soul. From this poison puzzle springs one of the most beautiful, controversial, and gripping stories ever told–adapted by Scott Sharplin into a macabre fantasy unlike anything you’ve ever imagined.
“To me, Hamlet is a ghost story and a love story. We’ve created a creepy, unsettling world–a fairy tale kingdom long past its prime–and we’ve got impassioned young actors playing the doomed lovers. It’s a classic story with a lot of unexpected touches. Hamlet has always been a puzzle, and I’m excited about staging questions that the audience can try to answer. But we’ve been working hard to make sure those questions are presented clearly, so that even people with no prior knowledge of Shakespeare can get in on the mystery,” says Sharplin.
Show tickets are available at the CBU Playhouse Box Office, Monday to Friday from 1-5 pm and one hour before show time. The box office will open one week prior to performance and during the week of the production. Tickets are $15 general; $10 students and seniors; and $8 CBU students. January 28 is Pay What You Can and February 5 is Talk Back Night.
