The February session of “Authors With Glasses”, held the third Tuesday of each month at Governors Pub in Sydney, has been postponed from its scheduled February 15 date to the following Tuesday, February 22, 7 pm
Organizers cited concerns over an expected high windstorm that might make driving difficult for both their presenters and their audience. In an email to participants, organizer Laura Syms said, “As you know in these instances, it is difficult to know what best to do.”
The re-scheduled session will feature the same line-up of presenters, speculative fiction authors and editors, Sherry D. Ramsay and Julie Serroul, both from the North Side area. Ken Chisholm will introduce Ramsay and Serroul as well as moderate the Open Stage section of the program where writers in the audience can read from their unpublished work.
Sherry D. Ramsay has published more than twenty-five pieces of short fiction and poetry in various print and online publications in North America and internationally, including the two Third Person Press volumes, which she co-edited with Serroul and Nancy S. M. Waldman, Undercurrents and Airborne.
Julie Serroul’s short stories have appeared online at The Writer’s Head E-zine and The Practically Creative Quarter, and her non-fiction articles have appeared in The Scriptorium Webzine. Her short story “Sanctuary” won second place in the annual Conestoga Short Fiction Competition, and her story “Letters to Mom” appeared in a magazine of dark urban fantasy called Cover of Darkness.
Ramsay, Serroul, and Waldman co-founded Third Person Press, which has so far published two anthologies of speculative fiction with a Cape Breton connection and is preparing a third publication this year.
