The fourth annual Acoustic Roots Festival is now on at Two Rivers Wildlife Park, located near Marion Bridge, Cape Breton. This year’s festival features award winning acts, fan favourites and rising stars from Nova Scotia to British Columbia, performing a variety of musical genres including Folk, Country, Bluegrass, Celtic, and Blues.
The 2016 list of performers taking to the stage for their first appearances at Acoustic Roots 2016 include Pictou County’s singer-songwriter extraordinaire Dave Gunning and British Columbia’s dynamic duo and rising country stars Twin Kennedy (twin sisters Carli & Julie Kennedy). In addition, a strong Cape Breton contingent appearing for the first time at Acoustic Roots includes Pretty Archie, Maxim & Gervais Cormier, Mike Barron, Joe Gillis, Rob MacLean and the cast of the popular Lyrics and Laughter production. Returning performers includes Adam Young, Adrianne & Mike, Allie Bennett, Anita MacDonald, Ben Miller, Buddy MacDonald, Colin Grant, Chrissy Crowley, Crowdis Bridge, Darrell Keigan, Dwayne Côté, Jason MacDonald, the MacArthur Dancers, Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Robert Bouchard and The Cape Breton School Of the Arts.
Two Rivers Wildlife Park, located near Marion Bridge overlooking the beautiful Mira River will once again serve as the venue for Acoustic Roots. The 500 acre site of Two Rivers Wildlife Park offers a variety of activities and services for festival goers including onsite camping, walking trails, fish ponds, wagon rides, petting zoo, canteen, observatory and WiFi. This year, the campgrounds have several new serviced sites plus a new visitors’ center with showers and laundry facilities. To book a campsite at the park call 902-727-2483.
Coinciding with the festival weekend, the park will also be hosting the Ole County Fair and Horse Show on the same weekend. Performances begin at 6 pm on September 2 with an 11 am start on September 3 and 4. Various musical workshops will be held throughout the festival.
