Cape Breton Regional Municipality Recreation department and Sydney Downtown Development Association (SDDA) have come together to host the CBRM’s first Food Truck Round-Up. The CBRM food truck event promotes Downtown Sydney and the local food truck business in the CBRM with diverse and delicious menus, from decadent desserts to hearty burgers.
With the annual Action Week celebrations in full swing, this event will make for a busy day in downtown Sydney on Saturday.
“This belly-busting food truck event coincides with the Downtown Sydney Sidewalk Sale, Rainbow Market, Pride Parade, Action Week events, and a docked cruise ship,” notes SDDA President, Janelle Osborne. “We are excited to be partnering with CBRM Recreation to deliver a family friendly event, complete with face painting, balloon animals, lawn games, and live music.”
Taking place at the former downtown Farmers’ Market location, the SDDA parking lot on the corner of Pitt and George Street, the Food Truck Round-Up will run from 11:30am-5pm and feature live music by Brett Jerrett from 12-1:30pm. Vendors confirmed for the Food Truck Round-Up include Little Rollin Bistro, DC Treats & Sweets, Bacon Bus, Fuzzy’s Fries, Smitty’s Chip Wagon, Pedal Pops and Treat Trikes. The event will also include a fundraising barbeque for the new Sydney Library, as well as a Library Fund donation box and ballot box for prizes donated by the food vendors. The Sidewalk Sale and Rainbow Market will be held from 9am–5pm on Charlotte Street, with the Pride Parade beginning at noon.
“We’d love to see lots of people attend the event,” comments Elizabeth Arsenault, event organizer. “It will promote local business and give people something new and exciting to do in Downtown Sydney. Come out, support local business while enjoying the Downtown Sidewalk Sale and Rainbow Market, and take in some Action Week events at Open Hearth Park.”
