Carvella’s Take Out

Carvella’s Take Out is a new entry into the food truck realm on the Northside. Located in North Sydney, on Memorial Drive in the Northside Industrial Park, Carvella’s offers a wide range of main menu items as well as a variety of ice cream choices.
The menu is perhaps a step up from typical food truck fare; as well as the usual french fries, hamburgers, fish & chips and the like, Carvella’s offers such diverse items as a Philly cheesesteak platter, fish tacos, grilled veggie wraps, and a shrimp po’boy platter. Poutine, pizza fingers, and wings are also on the menu, as well as kids’ chicken fingers and grilled cheese.
Although Carvella’s shares a parking lot with a recycling facility, this doesn’t turn out to be as unusual as it might sound. Built-in seating provides a comfortable place to wait for one’s order, and picnic tables complete with umbrellas dot the grassy expanse around the parking area. The staff is friendly and accommodating.
We sampled the fish & chips, club sandwich, cheeseburger platter, and onion rings, and the food was exceptional; fresh, delicious and nicely-prepared. The environmentally-conscious will appreciate the absence of styrofoam packaging in favour of cardboard-based takeout boxes. Prices for main menu items (including choice of sides) range from $9 – $13. The truck was moderately busy when we were there, and the wait after ordering was perhaps ten minutes.
Although we didn’t order from the “sweet side,” Carvella’s also offers a variety of soft-serve ice cream, sundaes, and milkshakes.
