Everyone In Cars is a two-piece rock band originally from Sydney. They will be releasing their first full-length album, titled Sea Phases, through their Bandcamp.com page Tuesday, July 17. A vinyl release is planned for the end of the Summer. Their first release, 2003’s True Feelings and The Drug is now available for free on their Bandcamp page.
Everyone In Cars is Adam Gabriel, drums, and Mike Gabriel, bass and vocals. The band has been an active project for the better part of the last decade. Living in different parts of the country, Mike and Adam have managed to play Sydney shows every year since 2004. In 2008 they began to make plans for their next recording. Mike wanted to keep the next record a Sydney-only project, so recording would have to be done during whatever time vacations could allow for.
The recording of Sea Phases finally began in Summer 2009 at Soundpark Studios in Sydney. Albert Lionais took the band through two evenings laying down tracks for 10 songs. Five additional songs were recorded the following summer by Harry Doyle at Small Studios in Sydney. Carter Chaisson started mixing the record in February 2012 and finished things up with a session at Soundpark Studios in May, where the whole project began. The artwork and layout for the record was done by Sydney ex-pat Chris Gibson in Halifax.
Sea Phases chronicles nearly eight years of living away from home and is the band’s most ambitious project. No show dates have been planned as of yet, but with Mike finally living back in Nova Scotia, there could be something happening in early Fall.
