May is Sexual Assault Awareness month. It’s time for our communities to join together to help victims to have a voice. Time to let perpetrators know that we will not be silent. Due to events in recent weeks there has been much attention brought to the subject of sexual assault and the need for improvement to accessibility of services for victims and accountability by abusers.
Every Woman’s Centre will host an assembly on Wednesday May 22, 2013 from from 11am to 1pm at St. Theresa’s Hall on St. Peters Road. There will be guest speakers who will share their expertize on the subject of sexual assault and what is needed in Cape Breton to bring us up to date in terms of services.
All in the community are invited to join: Government agencies, police, schools (staff, students and board), health care workers, parents and anyone who is concerned about making positive changes for victims.
We all need to show concern and work together as a community in supporting all efforts to keep this issue at the forefront. The time for moving forward with positive change is now!
Lunch and Musical Performance will be provided. Please RSVP by phone 567-1212 or by email wandaearhart.swcproject@gmail.com
