There is nothing more enduring or endearing to Michael Dalton than the thoughts, ideas, melodies, and emotions shared through the Music tradition. Inspired by the Picasso’s and the Pollack’s alike, Dalton’s songs weave a history through sincere melodies via a mash of storytelling and metaphor. Not content to let the listener assume a stance of passivity, he engages with a blend of many genres – compositions in the folk tradition that are woven together with a unique lyrical style. Some of his main influences include: Ron Hynes, Neil Young, Ray LaMontagne, the Tallest Man on Earth and Eric Earley (Blitzen Trapper).
Dalton is mad about his recording as well as his performance, and his debut album will be available in the Spring ’13. His first album of songs (including a co-write with Donald MacLennan) was recorded with the Transatlantic Zodiac Ensemble, ‘It’s a Mean Season for Silver Linings’ (2010).
Mike Lelievre (of Slowcoaster) and Tom Curry will be joining Dalton for an evening of songs and stories.
