Like electronica? Like dressing up in costume and make-up? Think you’ll be feeling a little evil this weekend?
Then the Evening of Eviltronica: Roger Redmond’s Birthday Massacre-ade, happening at The Upstairs on Friday, May 20, is where you want to be.
“The evening of Eviltronica was put together for Roger Redmond’s birthday, who is a member of Selekt Injekt, a live slash electronica band,” says Blayre Glowe, one of the event’s organizers. “The other artists bring different forms of electronia to the show which will be pretty interesting. And of course we’re getting dressed up for fun. It’s not a private party and we would love everyone and anyone to show up!”
The featured acts for the evening are Selekt Injekt, Art Damage, DTox, The Break Mechanic, and KRG.
“All the listed artists are from different endz of the spectrum of electronica so there will be something for everyone to enjoy!” Glowe says in an online posting about the event.
“People can dress up super classy, like a zombie, in uniform, or anything they want (keep in mind dress codes for the venue–you can’t be naked i would assume and NO MASKS heh),” Glowe writes. “Heck someone could wear a wedding dress and it would be cool. We just ask people to be creative and have fun. But evil iz the theme for the evening so people may want to consider that!”
For security reasons, Glowe says in a Facebook posting, “Masks will not be permitted whatsoever, but it doesn’t mean you can’t be creative with facepaint/makeup/prosthesis whatever else you can come up with!”
Admission is 5 dollars for those 19 and over. The Upstairs is located at the corner of Ferry and Dolbin Streets, above the French Club, in Sydney.
