Erin Martell
You & Me
Independent (2009)
Erin Martell wears her heart on both sleeves with the release of You & Me, an unapologetically personal collection of musings, centering on life situations, beliefs and especially relationships. “Afraid Of Butterflies” is a classy, jazz-infused ballad that showcases her vocal range. Just a great song. “Who” is probably my favorite track in this collection, with its independent, self-assured vow of the future. I appreciate both the words of “Changing” as well as the accompanying musical arrangement. I’m sure the title track could be the story for many and is a fitting conclusion to this one of a kind recording. I’ve been a fan of Erin Martell for many years. Her addition to any show guarantees a quirky, unique first class performance, always enjoyable, and always pure Erin Martell. She doesn’t try to be anyone but herself and her talent allows her that independence. I appreciate this release as a statement of that spirit and I look forward to both future performances and what I am sure will be a very long writing career.
