WGO: So Dusty, what can you tell me about your new record?
(enter Belinda Doyle)
Belinda: I’ve got something to tell ya!
WGO: Shut up! I’m trying to…
Belinda: But it’s really important!
WGO: I’ll get to you next.
Belinda: Are you really recording this?
Dusty: I’m being interviewed for some magazine.
Belinda: O.K., I’m going to apologize right now for making a dick of myself.
WGO: You wait…
Dusty: Ah, it’s called “Unfinished Business”. I recorded it with Ben Ross on the drums, Lucus Pierce on bass, Sean Cassidy on the keyboard in Shelburne, Nova Scotia trapped behind a twelve foot double barbed-wire fence in an abandoned NATO military listening post that monitored the North Atlantic for Soviet subs between here and Iceland. It was decommissioned about eight years ago. It’s famous for the Shag Harbour UFO sighting which has a lot more solid evidence than Roswell will ever have. A UFO crashed into the water and left this foam floating on the sea and the fishermen went out for it and then the military came and they looked for it or something and that was it. Hey, they’re playing “Tips Of My Fingers” from Al Tuck’s new CD right now. Anyway, the UFO was brought back to the base and kept under water and then people saw it seven days later leaving into the sky out of the ocean. I recorded my record down there as I was going to recording school which is now the decommissioned NATO military base called the Nova Scotia Community College for Sound and New Media program.
WGO: When was it finished?
Dusty: I recorded it in November ’99 and March of 2000 and did a lot of mixing down there.
WGO: Who was mixing?
Dusty: I was. It was a learning process to figure out recording, ya know? I spent all this money to go to school. I made a record and it’s the most expensive record I’ll probably ever make.
WGO: Is there anything you are looking forward to woth the release of “Unfinished Business”?
Dusty: Yeah, “Unfinished Business” is coming out in March and we’re going to be playing around, hopefully Sydney.
WGO: You mean definitely Sydney, not hopefully.
Dusty: Yeah. I’m going to Sydney. I gotta fuckin’ party.
WGO: And where are you going to stay?
Dusty: The House of Rock.
