All right, there are ten days of activities for Dominion’s 30th Annual Seaside Daze Festival (not including the warm-up events like the RCMP Musical Ride on July 16), but the one not to miss is the Chicken Dinner at the Italian Hall on Thursday, July 28.
Or any of the events at the Men’s Hawks Club. Or the Dominion Fire Hall. Or the world famous closing night fire works.
Throughout the ten days of the festival, over twelve non-profit organizations and businesses will present 85 events. The list of events goes on for over 15 pages.
The festival kicks off on Friday July 22, with the Seaside Daze Parade at 6 pm. Anyone interested in participating in the parade can contact the Seaside Daze Headquarters at 842-2973. Organizers say parade entries do not necessarily have to be a float, but can be people walking, decorated cars and trucks, or anything that brings out the festive spirit of Seaside Daze
Other events planned for the week include the Amazing Seaside Daze Race, Seniors Strawberry Festival, Teddy Bear Picnic, Pet Show, Celebration in the Street, Doll Carriage Parade, Kiddies Day, and of course, the Closing Fireworks Display.
“Dominion has definitely become known as the fireworks capital of the CBRM and we look forward to presenting this display each and every year. It is truly our calling card,” says Cathy Gillis, chairperson of the Dominion & Area Recreation Society, in a media release.
The Dominion and Area Recreation Society’s mandate includes working to secure the extensive funds necessary to purchase the Annual Fireworks Display.
During the events, residents can enjoy numerous activities and games, delicious food and drink, information booths, prize-awards, and fun for the entire family. Throughout the week, music lovers will hear popular acts like Mario Colosimo and Matt Earhart, Old Sam, Duncan Wells and the Apple in a Tree Band, Dinky Cameron, Four Corners, Stephen Muise and Friends, and Bad Habits, and many others.
For a complete event schedule, or to get more information, phone the Seaside Daze Headquarters at 842-2973 or check out their website at www.seasidedaze.com.
