Their names sound the same: they even rhyme.
But one is a triple X hypnotist popular on campuses across the country, the other a comedian famed for his “clean” Cosby-esque routines.
They are both visiting Cape Breton this week, in fact, giving shows on the same night. So ask yourself: Are you a Tony Lee fan or a Gerry Dee fan?
Hypnotist Tony Lee will be at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre on Saturday, April 23, leading his audience volunteers through his uncensored comedy hypnosis.
Comedian Gerry Dee has two shows on the island: the first at Mabou’s Strathspey Place on Thursday, April 21, and the second at Glace Bay’s Savoy Theatre on Saturday, April 23.
Tony Lee has sold out more University and College performances and received more awards than any other performer in Canadian History. With over 5000 sold out performances in the past 2 decades, Lee’s Facebook page is overrun with comments from university students saying what a wild time they had and asking when the eff he’s coming back.
Award-winning comedian Gerry Dee draws upon his experiences as a former school teacher, husband, and father for an hilarious take on everyday life. His website features a testimonial from the Ontario Association for Mathematics Education 2002 conference.
Ironically, as far as we know, Tony Lee has not worked with the Trailer Park Boys but Gerry Dee has.
Lee’s show at the MTCC opens its doors at 7 pm and the show begins at 9 pm. Advanced tickets are $15 and at the door are $18 for those 19 years and over and suggestible.
Dee’s Mabou show starts at 8 pm and tickets are $39. His Glace Bay show also starts at 8 pm and tickets are $39.50.
