If you enjoyed Canadian comedic personality Tom Green and his antics as an MTV personality, his film appearances in Road Trip and Freddy Got Fingered, or his internet talk show Tom Green’s House Tonight, then you will likely enjoy his show this Friday, November 26 at the Membertou Trade and Convention Centre. It will be one of four shows on the East Coast portion of his World Standup Comedy Tour, which has taken him from Australia to North America to the UK during 2010.
The new stand-up schtick takes Green back to his roots, when he performed stand-up gigs as a teenager in Ottawa. In an interview last month with the Toronto Star, Green describes his new act as being a stripped-down, straight-up, “just me and a microphone” kind of show. Aside from occasionally taking out his acoustic guitar, the focus is on the spoken word. It’s a departure from the gag-oriented, prop-heavy stunts of his television career.
The Tickets are reserved cabaret seating at $35 each, and admission is for ages 19 and over. Tickets are on sale at the Membertou Trade and Convention centre box office, open 10am to 6pm Monday to Friday. Doors open at 7:30pm and show time is at 9pm. For more information or to purchase tickets by phone, call (902)539-2300.
