“The students wanted to find a way to incorporate aspects of their culture and the culture they’ve come to know well while they’ve been getting educated here on the Island. We’ve never had a celebration quite like this before, and it really shows CBU’s level of inclusivity and acceptance of the traditions of its students,” says Jennifer Currie, course instructor. “Guests will enjoy beverages and delightful tastes from the three cultures represented in the class – all prepared by the students. It’s definitely an event not to be missed!”
Celtic Colours International Festival and Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative are sponsoring the event, and it will feature musical entertainment by Dawn and Margie Beaton, accompanied by some international students. Event managers on the Island are very interested in this particular mix of cultures, and plan to discuss future development of events similar to this one in the future.
Other entertainment to be featured includes a Chinese Folk singer, a Korean Alumni Opera performer and a traditional Chinese Folk Dancer. Each ticket ensures guests one free alcoholic drink and free appetizers.
