Cape Breton University’s Boardmore Theatre is proud to present William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. Brimming with music and mayhem, Twelfth Night is Shakespeare’s beloved comedy of mistaken identity and around-the-clock romance.
“This is going to be an accessible, fun-filled production,” says Todd Pettigrew, Director and Associate Professor of English. “Twelfth Night is one of Shakespeare’s most crowd-pleasing comedies, and our show moves along from one hilarious romantic intrigue to the next. It’s modern dress and there are over half a dozen songs. This is Shakespeare for theatre lovers, as well as those who think they don’t like Shakespeare.”
Shipwrecked and alone in the strange land of Illyria, Viola must find a way to fit in until she can sort out the pieces of her broken life. Disguised as a young man, she finds a place in the service of the Duke Orsino who employs her as a messenger to his beloved Olivia, but when Viola falls in love with Orsino, and Olivia falls in love with Viola, the tangled knot of love and confusions gets pulled tighter and tighter.
