Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management (BHTM) students at Cape Breton University will be hosting Come From Away Ceilidh: Not Your Typical Kitchen Party, on Thursday, November 29.
Students in the Meetings and Event Management course offered at CBU have organized the Come From Away Ceilidh as an end-of-term project fusing together the seven countries represented in their classroom. Students from Brazil, Canada, China, India, Turks and Caicos, Vietnam and Zimbabwe have collaborated to offer a cultural learning experience combined with a good old-fashioned kitchen party which is sure to please.
“Guests can expect to experience a fusion of food, beverages and entertainment from around the world while being treated as special guests,” says Instructor of Hospitality and Tourism Management, Jennifer Currie. “It will be a wonderful showcase of the strengths and abilities of our BHTM students from the Shannon School of Business.”
The 19+ event, sponsored by local industry partners, Celtic Colours International Festival and Cape Breton Music Industry Cooperative will take place at 7pm in the Multipurpose Room on campus, with tickets available for $20. Colin Grant, Adam Young and student performers from all over the world will come together to provide entertainment for this one-of-a-kind event.
Tickets for the Come From Away Ceilidh can be purchased at Cape Breton Curiosity Shop, 296 Charlotte Street, or by contacting Jennifer Currie at jennifer_currie@cbu.ca or 902-563-1336.
