Cape Breton University’s Boardmore Theatre is currently preparing for its 44th Season of Plays with an official launch party on September 10, 2014 at noon in the Boardmore Playhouse.
The community is invited to visit the Boardmore Theatre and hear about the 2014/2015 season of plays, listen to readings and songs from the main stage productions, meet this year’s directors, and enjoy a light lunch. At this time members of the community will also be able to check out a sneak preview of the upcoming season of the CBU Art Gallery to learn more about upcoming exhibitions and events.
“CBU Boardmore Theatre is continually expanding its theatre offerings each year,” says Todd Hiscock, Director of the Boardmore Theatre. “This year, along with our Season of Plays, we are pleased to announce a new series of plays to be written for our one act play festival – The Beaton Chronicles. The community is welcome to attend the launch party and learn more about all the new and exciting things that are in store for the 2014/2015 season.”
In addition to the launch, the Boardmore Theatre is also setting the stage for auditions and registration for the 2014/15 Season of Plays offering Twelfth Night, The Pillowman, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to The Forum, The Elizabeth Boardmore One-Act Play Festival, Youth Drama Festival, and Bluenose.
Open auditions will take place on Saturday, September 13, 2014 from 10–5pm and Sunday, September 14, from 1–5pm. Actors, singers, technicians, stage managers, and stage crew are encouraged to attend. Auditions can also be booked by contacting Hiscock at 902-563-1351 or emailing todd_hiscock@cbu.ca.
