William Shakespeare’s The Tempest, which opened Thursday, November 24, is the first offering in the Boardmore Theatre’s 41st Season of Plays.
This year’s season includes the American classic, Death of a Salesman, directed by Todd Pettigrew; the Canadian farce, The Last Resort, directed by Bruce Cathcart; The Elizabeth Boardmore One-Act Play Festival, featuring five new plays by local playwrights; the annual Youth Theatre Festival; Nightlight, a play for young audiences dealing with bullying; and the Maritime Marionettes with their production of Jack and the Beanstalk. “It’s another season jam-packed with top quality theatre,” says Todd Hiscock, Boardmore Theatre’s Artistic Director.
Again this year many students from local schools will be in attendance with close to 1200 high school students expected to see The Tempest, and more than 1500 elementary school students visiting the Boardmore Playhouse for the production of Nightlight.
