Sports, games, arts and crafts will be brought to Coxheath, Westmount, Sydney River, Howie Centre, Sydney Forks and area this summer through the Fun Van program, running until August 9. Children age 5 and older are invited to participate in the program, which will be held in various facilities in the suburban communities.
Sponsored by the CBRM Recreation Department and Riverview Y’s Men, the program features GIANT board games, crazy games, water activities, nature hikes, neat crafts, themed Day Camps, bike days, Track and Field, and Fun/Water Fun Days every Friday! Participants are encouraged to take sneakers, water, and sunscreen when participating in the Fun Van program. The program will run twice a day, from 10am–12 noon and from 1–3pm, with day camps being held 10am–3 pm (registration required for day camps).
Fun Van staff members have received training in NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills, so will be using their training to teach movement skills to participants in the Fun Van program.
Cape Breton Track and Field, Velo Cape Breton, and Louisbourg 300 are supporters of this six-week program.
