With summer winding down you really have to get out there and enjoy all that you can of the good weather, good entertainment, and good times in general. Fortunately, the CBRM is helping you out!
Starting on August 18, the CBRM will be holding the Stages and Spaces Concert Series, a weekly event to extend the summer and bring us all into fall. “Music plays an important role in the way we gather, relate, and celebrate in our community,” says CBRM Recreation Program Coordinator Joe Costello. “While many of our community festivals may be finished for the year, these concerts look to extend our summer in the areas we call home and give us an additional opportunity to come together as residents during this Canada 150 year.”
The bonus with this concert series is, in addition to the live music performances, each event will also showcase a different beautiful park or gathering place in the CBRM. This includes outdoor stages in Dominion, New Waterford, Grand Narrows, and Louisbourg, as well as parks in North Sydney, Glace Bay, and Sydney, so there’s no excuses for not being able to get out to at least one of these shows; they’re bringing the entertainment to you!
Personally, I’ve always been a big fan of the parks and public spaces in the CBRM. They are one of the best things about the area and can easily be a draw for many come-from-aways. Many of these spaces have been fixed up in recent years, so it’s nice to see them getting a bit more attention from the community, for the community! The more the spaces are used, the more fixed up and upgraded they will be (or more spaces developed!), the more they can be used, and so on and so on. It’s a great cycle, and I’m looking forward to seeing how it shapes up.
If you’re interested in the “who,” “where,” and “when” of the Stages and Spaces Concert Series, here are all of the details:
